Thing that makes life just grand of the day: seven databases in song
It’s not like me to do a post where I just share something that has come to my attention and provide little side commentary, but I have to make an exception for this:
The song is a companion to the recently-released “Seven Databases in Seven Weeks: A Guide to Modern Databases and the NoSQL Movement,” by Eric Redmond and Jim Wilson. It gives you a quick–and I mean quick–rundown of seven so-called NoSQL database systems: Neo4J, Postgres, HBase, Redis, CouchDB, Mongo, and Riak (to borrow from the order of the song).
It’s currently available for purchase as a paper book or as an ebook at The Pragmatic Bookshelf. As usual, there are free excerpts of pretty significant parts of the book as well.
The video is just an absolute gem, and if the video is any indication, the book will be a gem too.
